About us

Diving begins with a suit

The Grouper brand has been active on the Czech market since 1993, when Lada Maxa and Jirka Kuncl produced the first wetsuit, that time with the Kani-sub logo. They gained experience in production with various foreign companies, such as Coltri sub, Borabora - Barakuda, Dian sub, Piccaso.

In the beginnings, production was oriented towards the mass production of standard suits, but gradually focused more and more on meeting the individual needs of divers. In 2001 we changed the name of our suits to Grouper. Because we make our suits to the exact dimensions of the diver's body, we can use material with a higher compression resistance, so our suits retain thermal insulation properties even at depth.

In 2005 our suit easily won the comparative tests of thermal insulation of suits sold on the market, conducted by Ocean magazine.

We also have extensive experience in the repair of diving suits, including dry suits. We are continuously developing and improving our own repair methods, the quality of which often exceeds the original factory design.

All joints are glued, not ironed, so our repaired dry suit is truly dry under all conceivable conditions of use.

Lada Maxa

Company owner and diving suit expert

Lada is the founder and owner of the Grouper brand. As a diver, he has almost a lifetime of experience in using wetsuits. He started making his own wetsuits and repairing drysuits back in 1993, but he is still learning.

Lately he has been losing his nerve repairing diving suits from Asia, which sometimes seem like they are not even designed for diving ;)
